My old-school mood boards
This is how it was done a few years back...
I talk quite a lot about the importance of decluttering as I am a big advocate of it. But even I can ignore the amount of stuff we 'pile up' in digital devices. It is jaw dropping how much digital files, documents, photos one can accumulate over the years. It is way less noticeable than physical clutter for obvious reasons. So, I have been taking some time and sorting out ruthlessly all my digital 'possessions'. That is how I came across those old colour theory collages the other day - together these ones.
I have to admit - it is very convenient to do all of my designing and planning work, all the moodboards, styleboards, colour palettes, floor plans, etc. online, it is quick, easy and efficient - however I do miss the old way of it. There is some 'special flair' about cutting out and gluing the pictures and the swatches, drawing and colouring the plans - you get sucked into this creative flow when everything seems to be irrelevant around you, the ideas just flow to you and work feels effortless. I have never quite experienced this feel when doing these things online. Also, it feels more real if you have these plans and boards in physical version - in my experience clients can somehow better understand and connect to the concept, to the design if they can touch it, feel it, hold it in their hands.
