Do It Yourself: Recycled Pallet Bed
The main feature of a bedroom is, no doubt, the bed! Perk up the look of your bedroom with a unique do-it-yourself recycled pallet bed that requires little expenditure, time and effort. You can find endless design ideas on recycled pallet beds on the internet. Here is a nice example of how easy and simple to create your own unique bed - designed by me.
Recycled wooden pallets are very popular and used widely for making all sorts of furniture such as coffee tables, bed frames and headboards, nightstands - just to name a few. Pallet furniture are quite cheap, also it is simple and quick to make them, and they add a special look to the room.
This room has got a very simple pallet bed: one 120x90cm and one 120x100cm pallet put together on the floor and a comfy foam mattress placed on them, plus a mattress protector - and that is it! The pallets were thoroughly sanded, then treated with quick dry oak varnish.
Since the room itself is smallish, it was important not to furnish it with some heavy looking big bed to make the space look filled and even smaller. So the idea of using pallets came in handy in creating a space saving bed where the two pallets serve as a platform for the mattress and there are no any additional fixtures (headboard, feetboard) to take up more space. Also, there had already been some other "furniture", such as the two wooden wine boxes serving as bedside tables that defined the possible style of the bed.
To give some feminine touch to the initially rustic look I accessorized the room with purple/pink cushions, curtains and with off-white and gold ornaments.
In the next blog post I will show you how the whole room developed to its current state.
